Schwarzbier With Coffee
ABV 5.3%

Our favorite part about collaboration beers is having the opportunity to work with our friends. The friend with whom I brewed The Schwartz Awakens is one of my favorite people. Jesse Prall of Rubber Soul Brewing and I started working together at Dogfish Head in 2005 and it’s been a total bromance ever since. Since moving out to Colorado in 2013 to open The Post I’ve been working at getting him out here to brew and we finally got it together.

After 24 emails filled with ideas and (primarily) ball busting we agreed to make a black lager with coffee roasted especially for Jesse’s Salisbury, MD brewery by Concave Coffee in Philadelphia. Our goal was the perfect marriage of our favorite flavors and sensations and I’m pretty sure we’ve captured that.

Brewed from American 2-row barley malt, Munich malt, Perla Negra and Crystal 15, The Schwartz Awakens offers nuanced roast character supported by layers of biscuit and light caramel. The coffee is full and offers smooth nutty and fruity berry aromas backed by a satisfying earthy tone. Herbal hops round out the experience as the beer comes to a familiar dry coffee finish.

Drink this with prime rib or any beefy, meaty delight. It’s also great with roasted root vegetables and is right at home with dessert.
